Ruth Jackson was born on March 15, 1928, in Heath, Arkansas. She was the first born on six children to Mary Walker and Robert Jackson. She professed her belief in Jesus Christ at an early age and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. When she moved to St. Louis, Missouri, she was a member of First Baptist Church for many years before joining Shining Star Baptist Church. And finally, she became a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Richmond Heights, Missouri.
In 1944 she joined in Holy matrimony with Earnest Ducksworth. Upon his passing, she then married Nathaniel Johnson in 1951. From the two unions she had eight children, five boys and three girls.
The legacy she leaves is one of compassion, love and concern for mankind.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories to her sons, Larry, Nathaniel Jr., Melvin, Stanley and Brian; daughters, Maryann, Yvonne and Anita; two brothers, Paul and Robert Jr.; two sisters, Shirley and Carol; grandchildren great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2015, at Kriegshauser Mortuary West, 9450 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, Mo. 63132. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Pagedale, Mo. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
