Moran, Sandra "Muzzie", "Judy", "Sissie"

Her Dash 9.23.1936 – 3.1.2019 as she called it. From the day you are born until the day you die is your Dash. She said live it to the fullest!!

Our wonderful mom at the age of 82 lost her 4-year battle to Lung, Brain, Bone and Blood Cancer on 3.1.2019 at 4:30pm, at Mark Twain Nursing home surrounded by her loved ones. She was diagnosed on 12.27.2014 in a ER visit and was given 6 months to live, and 4 years and 2 months later was her time. To us we are very lucky to get bonus years with her, since they gave her only 6 months when first diagnosed. She had her ups and downs, as did we by her side the whole way.

She was a wonderful, crazy, fun mother to 5 girls that she raised all by herself. She was our mother and father. There is Mona Moran #1, Donna Sparks #2 (Sparky Sr.), Diane Shepherd #3 (Darrell), Laura Wallace #4, and Grace Garland #5 (Christopher). She also has 13 awesome grandchildren and 27 amazing great grandchildren. We are a very blessed and lucky family.

Mom "Muzzie" will be missed by all that knew her. She also has lots and lots of friends that have become our bonus family members. It just seemed as though people were drawn to her infectious way with words, her caring ways, and her sense of humor. Everyone that knew her loved her so much. Her favorite things to do were listen to music and dance.

She worked at MNEA for 25 years and then retired for a while then went back part time for SDNEA. She loved to be busy. She worked as long as she could. We would pick her up and bring her into work, until it just wasn’t possible anymore, which was about 2 years ago. She loved all the holidays. Her house was always decked out, all the way down to the paper plates, knives, forks, and spoons. Her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her life. Holidays will not be the same without her.

She has donated her body to Washington University for research, so we will not be having a Funeral service for her, (her wishes) are to have a Fun-e-Rul instead (big party). This will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2019 at the Overland Lions Club on Lackland Road from 1pm until 7pm. We will be celebrating her life and all of our wonderful memories with her, along with music and dancing as that is what she loved and wanted us to do. Please feel free to come by, and stay the whole time, or just come by share your memories and have a great time.

I have fond memories of Sandy from my years working with Missouri NEA. She was a great person and we were lucky she kept our St. Louis staff on track for so many years. Sorry I cannot come by the memory party on April 6, but we will be in Minnesota keeping track of our grandchildren that day — I am confident Sandy will understand our absence!
