Wilfred G. "Bill" Soutiea Jr. was born on February 20, 1940 in Lemay, Missouri to the late Wilfred G. and Louise (nee Wibel) Soutiea Sr. He graduated from Bayless High School in 1957. He holds an MA degree from Webster University in Human Relations and Administration of Justice.
After graduating from high school, Bill enlisted in the Air Force. Upon separation, he joined the Missouri Air National Guard, and worked full-time at Emerson Electric. In 1962, he became a patrolman in the Metropolitan St Louis Police Department. He accepted a full-time position at Jefferson Barracks in 1967, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1993.
Along with his wife Carol, he enjoyed a lifetime of involvement in the Masonic Lodge and numerous affiliated organizations. He served as Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Missouri in 1999-2000.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 76 years, Carol (nee Lunte) Soutiea; son Bill (Kimberly) Soutiea III; daughter, Sheryl (Steve) Rowden; grandchildren, Derek Soutiea; Erika Soutiea; Madelynne Rowden; and Morgan Rowden.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Joan Knibb-Head and Joy Leonard, and infant son Brian.
Visitation Sunday August 19, from 4 until 8 pm at Hoffmeister South County Chapel. Masonic service at 7:30 pm.
Funeral service at 10:00 am Monday, August 20, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Affton, MO, with full military honors.
Memorial contributions in Bill’s honor may be made to the Masonic Home of Missouri or to a charitable cancer organization of your choice.
