Lloyd Joseph Bienvenu Jr., age 86, of St. Martinville, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at St. Agnes Healthcare and Rehab. Lloyd was born January 16, 1936 to the late Lillian Guidry Bienvenu and the late Lloyd J. Bienvenu, Sr. and was the only son of three children.
Lloyd proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning from service, he began a career as a diesel mechanic in the Oil and Gas industry. He retired from that and began working with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Department, where he supervised the repair and care of the department vehicles. He also spent time working and teaching his trade to the trustees incarcerated.
When not working, Lloyd stayed busy with one of his favorite passions, rebuilding and restoring vintage cars. He owned many during his lifetime and every car was well taken care of when he finished. He also helped tend to the yard and flowers, although Mrs. Dee said his thumb was anything but green. After a hard day’s work, they loved going out to eat, especially at their favorite places of St. John's or to their favorite Mexican restaurant.
It was also shared that Lloyd had a generous heart and a true desire to help anyone in need. Above all, his family was his greatest love and he will be missed dearly. Rest well Lloyd, for you have earned your heavenly reward.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 20 years, Deanna Martin “Dee” Bienvenu; his children, William Bienvenu, Sr. Tammy Bienvenu Simon, Brandy Bienvenu; his grandchildren, Jeremy Jones-Bienvenu, William "Joe" Bienvenu, Jr. (Rustina Courville Bienvenu), Wade Bienvenu (Tara Adams), Wendell Bienvenu (Echo Ducharme), Chantelle Romero, John Patrick "T-Pat" Romero (Danielle Richard Romero), Marlene Romero Guidry and Jonathan Romero. He is also survived by his beloved great grandchildren, Mason, Maddex, Karson, Kohner, Luke, Landon, Logan, Bentley and Jaxx Bienvenu; Courtney, Rainsley, Christian, Alijah, Gabrielle, Kollin, Gavin, Baylin, Carter and Addison Romero; Matthew Latiolais, Madden Guidry, Journee and Jhett Lemonia; 5 great great grandchildren; and all his loving and caring nieces, nephews, friends, which he adored, as well as anyone inadvertently not mentioned.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his father Lloyd J. Bienvenu, Sr. and his mother Lillian Guidry Bienvenu; his sisters Lucy Trahan and Mary Broussard; and his son-in-law Dennis Simon.
