Adel (Shabshelowitz) Savitz

Adel was born on June 22, 1928, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Louis and Annie (Zuzzie) Shabshelowitz. She was raised in Fall River and attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, graduating in 1950.

In December 1951, she married Herbert Savitz. Together they raised four sons and made their homes in Brookline, Newton, Weston, Boston, and Naples, Florida.

Adel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Herbert Savitz, who died on December 26, 2014, and by her son, Andrew Savitz, who died on January 29, 2020.

She is survived by her sons, Peter Savitz of Greenwich, Connecticut; Matthew Savitz of Weston, Connecticut; and Jonathan Savitz and his wife, Kathy, of Greenwich, Connecticut. She is also survived by her twelve cherished grandchildren: Noah, Zuzzie, Harry, Sarah, Olivia, Jacob, Louis, Daniel, Elliot, Julianna, Sophia, and Jonah.

Adel was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, followed by a graveside service at Hebrew Cemetery, 78 McMahon Street, Fall River.
