

Arnold Brooks passed away on July 24, 2015 at the age of 89. Born in New Britain, Connecticut in 1925 to Max and Rebecca Brooks, both from the Ukraine, he grew up in that state until the family moved to New York City.
There he attended Columbia University. He served in the Navy for one year, following which he completed graduate studies in Aeronautical Engineering at Princeton University. He then began a long and distinguished career in engineering and advanced research management at General Electric, receiving the CEO award for his work.
He and his late wife Lenore settled on the North Shore and raised their four children, living briefly in Lynn and Marblehead before settling in Swampscott, where they spent over fifty happy years together.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband and father, he donated his time to Princeton University, helping with recruitment and rising to become the National Chair of the Alumni Schools Committee. His wisdom, humor, and warmth touched all who knew him.
He is survived by his sons George, Peter, David, and Matthew; his daughter-in-law Margot; his grandchildren Sarah, Adam, and Kate; and Sarah’s husband Evan.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 27, 2015. Interment was in Temple Emanu-El Memorial Park, Danvers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Massachusetts General Hospital Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114.
