Dear Edith and family,
We were so sad to hear of Art's passing. We were always coming to visit you folks soon! Somehow, that never came to pass.
We had some very memorable times together all over the U.S. at AASG
meetings. One meeting, telling Art how hip surgery was great. I remember the look on his face after that remark but we laughed a lot.
Your lovely painting hangs in our home so the Socolows are always visiting!
Bob and I often consider our good fortune in having known the greatest days of geology and the greatest friends among geologists.
We hope you will take comfort in knowing we share your sorrow and will always remember him fondly.

Gary and I treasure our long time friendship with Carl, and have long understood that he is the product of some very special people. In our many visits with Carl and Holly, we always covered "the folks", and we were saddened to hear of Arthur's passing.

Edith, our hearts and minds are with you, and we wish you peace and happiness as you remember Arthur. Hugs to all.

Dear Edith, (I hope this is not a duplicate) My thoughts and sympathy are with you. I was saddened to read of Arthur's passing in the Globe. I fondly recall my time with both you and Arthur. He was a man of strong opinions and a strong will. He was very tolerant of his varying medical conditions, I challenge to care for. I liked Arthur very much, and respected his decisions. Doug
