Mr. Barry K. Geiman

Barry Geiman, of Swampscott, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 3, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with lymphoma, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and connection. Barry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life was defined by his unwavering love for his family.

Born in Brooklyn, Barry was the son of the late Pearl Lippiner and Nathan Geiman. He spent four years in the Air Force and graduated from New York Institute of Technology. He worked as an accountant, retail business owner, recruiter, and substitute teacher in Swampscott schools in his retirement. He was a celebrity around town, with children running up to him to say hello. He was often assigned to special education, not because of any training, but because of his kindness, creativity, and patience.

Barry was the beloved husband of Marlene Geiman, cherished father to Tracey and Russell Roman, adored Pop to grandchildren Jonathan and Samantha Roman, and loved uncle of Andrew, Kristine, Kate, and Cole Cheren.

Barry’s happiest times were spent with his family and friends. He doted on Marlene, doing whatever he could to make her life easier and more comfortable. He was a proud and supportive father, always there with an ear, a laugh, or a lending hand. Pop loved going to his grandchildren’s events, both big and small, and never missed one.

Barry will be remembered for his kindness and ability to connect with people. He made anyone he interacted with feel seen and heard. He never really met a stranger.

The family would like to thank Dr. Grace Ho and the oncology team at Beth Israel Hospital for the wonderful care given with compassion and kindness. In addition, we appreciate the loving care he received on the first floor at Care One in Peabody, especially from Leora, Charlene, Nicole, and Cathy. We will be forever grateful for all the special people we met during this journey.

A funeral service for Barry was held on April 6th at Temple Emanu-El in Marblehead. Interment followed at the Independent Workmens Circle Cemetery, West Roxbury.
