

Calvin Probst, of Peabody, MA, passed away with loving family at his side, on May 31, 2026. Cal was the beloved husband of 66 years to Lorraine (Winitz) Probst, who predeceased him in 2023. He was a loving and devoted father to Cynthia (Cindy) Pearce-Probst, Stephen Probst and Melissa Kenny Probst; father-in-law to Sue, Helen and J.Barr; grandfather to Adam, Michael, Julie, Becki, Sara, Murphy and Max; grandfather-in-law to Samantha, Kahdeem, Prabhat, and Eric; and great-grandfather to Asher, Harlow, Vivienne, and Coleman. He delighted in them all.
Cal was the beloved son of the late Samuel Nathan Probst, Jr. and Dorothy (Blumowitz) Probst; brother to the late Lester Probst; and brother-in-law to the late Toni Probst, Pauline (Winitz) Wiener, Gloria (Winitz) Lauterbach, and Leon Lauterbach. He was predeceased by his nephews David and Eddie. He leaves behind his nieces and their families.
Cal spent much of his life in and around New York City. He and Lori raised their family in Yonkers and suburban Philadelphia, and eventually relocated to Massachusetts. He was graduated from the Columbia University College of Pharmacy, and later the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania. Cal was a pharmacist, and eventually made his way to pharmaceutical-related writing and publishing. In the 1960s and 70s, he practiced pharmacy at his Manhattan drug store, known as Corby Chemists.
Cal cherished his connections with his family and friends and neighbors. He served as an engaged member of the different communities to which he belonged. He freely shared his beautiful singing voice with us all. He was abundantly loving, and abundantly loved.
