Carolyn Krantz Hirschfeld of Winchester passed away peacefully on June 20 at 82 years old. She was the beloved wife of Tom, wonderful mother of Karen and Eric, loving sister of Judith Krantz and dear daughter of Fan and Simon Krantz.
Carolyn grew up in Atlanta, attended Harvard Extension School and raised her family in Winchester. A passionate believer in women’s reproductive rights, she worked at Preterm Women’s Clinic as a crisis pregnancy counselor, a department she helped establish. She cared deeply about diversity and equality and was a dedicated member of the Winchester Multicultural Network.
Fascinated by other cultures, she traveled from Asia to India to the Middle East, taking award-winning photographs and learning to cook varied cuisines. She was always quick with a witty, silly or kind observation, and cats held a special place in her heart. Friendship meant everything to her and she cherished many long-standing relationships.
A funeral service for Carolyn was held privately.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to NARAL National Pro Choice America in her memory.
