Born on March 20, 1954, to Eileen and Bernard Cohen, Fred grew up in family alongside his siblings Devon, Bonni, Linda, Allison, Charles, Mark, and James. He went on to have a distinguished career as Executive Vice President in the banking and technology industries, where he was known for his leadership, vision, and integrity.
Fred served in the United States Air Force from 1973–1984, as a medical service technician.
For 36 years, Fred shared a beautiful life with his wife, Kathy Cohen. Together, they raised a loving family: Joshua Cohen, Elizabeth, Kellie, and Jaime, along with their significant others. Known as “Papa,” Fred adored his grandchildren — Morgan, Jackson, and Oliver — who brought him endless joy.
Fred’s passions extended beyond his professional life. He loved boating, racing, skeet shooting, and camping, and gave his time generously as a volunteer, serving on the Boards of the Jewish Journal and Spaulding Rehabilitation. More than anything, Fred was a devoted son, husband, father, papa, brother, and friend. His warmth, humor, and kindness deeply touched all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, Salem, MA 01970. Interment will follow at Pride of Lynn Cemetery, 89 Lake Shore Road, Lynn, MA 01904.
