

LYNN – formerly of Swampscott & Marblehead, Jacob M. Leamon, age 87 years, entered into rest on Monday morning, April 23, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Bedford. He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian (Cohen) Leamon. Born in Salem, son of the late Julius & Gussie (Meyers) Leamon. He was a graduate of Salem High School with the class of 1942.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army, where he participated in the invasion of Anzio, Salerno and Southern France.
Mr. Leamon had been employed as a Linotype printer for the Lynn Item Newspaper from 1951 until his retirement in 1986.
He was a resident of Swampscott and Marblehead and had resided in Lynn since 1996. Mr. Leamon was an officer of the Dolphin Yacht Club in Marblehead, a volunteer worker for Russian Resettlement Program, North Shore Jewish Federation and was also a member of the Local 120 Union –International Typographies. Jacob was a former member of Temple Israel of Swampscott and Congregation Ahabat Sholom in Lynn and was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Salem.
Surviving him are two devoted children, Chloe Leamon and Robert Leamon; three cherished grandchildren, Caleb, Joseph and Susan and his beloved companion, Alice Shactman. He was also the loving brother of the late Ida Pekin, Samson and Eli Leamon.
Services at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, SALEM on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Interment at Congregation Shirat Hayam Cemetery, Temple Israel Section, Peabody. Memorial Observance will be announced at the service on Wednesday.
