

Jeanette N. Ablow, of Marblehead, Massachusetts passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026 at the age of 93. Jeanette was the beloved wife of 71 years to Allan, a devoted mother to Dr. Karen Ablow and Dr. Keith Ablow, and a cherished grandmother to Kipp Milone, Devin Ablow and Cole Ablow. She was a loving sister to her late siblings—Lucille Sevinor, Bernard Mason and Eugene Mezansky—and a devoted daughter to her late parents Abraham and Dorothy Mezansky. She had many nieces and nephews and an especially close bond with Ruthann Sevinor and Deborah Kantor.
Jeanette grew up in Mattapan, Massachusetts. She graduated from Suffolk University, where she met her husband. She then obtained her master’s degree in education from Salem State University. She was the valedictorian of both her high school and college classes.
As a Title 1 reading specialist, Jeanette taught hundreds of students over the course of decades in the city of Lynn, Massachusetts, both in public schools and at the Sacred Heart School. She was the creator of Phonetic Fusion, a program to help children and adults learn to read.
Jeanette and Allan raised their family in Marblehead, Massachusetts where they lived together for 66 years.
Jeanette was a member of Temple Israel in Swampscott, Massachusetts and, later, a member of Temple Emanu-El in Marblehead. She deeply loved her many friends, her family and her neighbors on Countryside Lane. She was an avid reader and enjoyed painting, as well as playing mahjong, canasta and Words with Friends.
Jeanette was a support for anyone who faced challenges in life and gave generously of her time to anyone in need. She will be missed deeply by those whose lives she touched.
A graveside funeral service for Jeanette will be held on Monday, April 6, at 11 AM at Temple Israel Cemetery at 506 Lowell Street in Peabody, Massachusetts.
