Jerome David Dubrow

June 11, 1934April 2, 2016

Jerome David Dubrow, 81, of Gloucester, MA, died in his home on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Jerry was born on June 11, 1934 in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late Charles and Ethel Dubrow. He graduated from Swampscott High School, where he excelled in both football and track, holding records for the whole North Shore in sprint races. Jerry graduated from Bates College in 1955. He entered the liquor business not long after, and his affable nature made Cabot Liquors in Beverly the destination for many. Jerry was hard to miss, sporting a clean-shaven head when it seemed only the actors Yul Brynner and Telly Savales wore the style. In 1996, after over 30 years in the business, Jerry retired. He continued to enjoy his two life passions, dogs and sports cars.

Jerry is survived by his loving partner Rachel Gauthier; sister Barbara Tobey; son Robert and his three children Madelyn, Nathan, and Eleyna; son John and wife Audrey; daughter Jane; daughter Carrie and her three children Jason, Emma, and Ava; and daughter Briana and husband Paul. A Memorial Service will be held at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, Salem, MA on Sunday, April 10, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Boston Children’s Hospital NICU, P.O. Box 414421, Boston, MA 02241. For online condolences, please visit www.stanetskyhymansonsalem.com

I am so deeply saddened by the passing of my dear cousin and friend, but feel heartened by the memories of family gatherings with Jerry, his great sense of humor and wonderful personality.

Jerry set an excellent example of how to be a fine man, as he was an exceptional individual to look up to as my brother, Neal, and I were growing up. Jerry took a real interest in our lives and we will remember him always with appreciation, respect and admiration.

Jerry Dubrow was the finest man I have ever worked for. The part time job that I had at Cabot Liquors resulted in many friends and many fond memories. The friends and co-workers that I worked with there led to a job with the city and a satisfying career and a good life. Thank you, Jerry. You were the best boss I ever had. And Bobby, my deepest condolences. Know that your father is remembered and loved by many, many of us who were lucky enough to work for him.
