Joan Sandra Shaffer

Joan Sandra Shaffer of Marblehead, MA entered into rest on June 23, 2024 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of Richard Edward Shaffer. Devoted mother of Elizabeth Lamb and Alyson Shaffer. Cherished grandmother of Zachary Lamb, Rebecca Lamb, Casper Zurosky and Hugo Zurosky. Proud great grandmother of Zander and Levi Lamb and Emmett Lamb. The loving sister of Diana Baseman and the late Helen Pruss. Dear daughter of the late Esther and Harry Yashgar.

Joan grew up in Salem, MA, graduated from Fisher Junior College and raised her family in Marblehead, MA. Joan worked as the office and credit manager at J Stone and Son in Lynn for many years. She became an integral part of the Stone family. She was a dedicated member of Temple Beth El in Swampscott when her children were growing up. She loved cooking, shopping, having a glass (or two) of wine and playing Mahjong with her friends. She was a meticulous dresser. Joan cherished her time spent with family and friends.

A funeral service for Joan will be held on Friday, June 28,, 2024 at 10:00 AM at The Maple Hill Cemetary located at 98 Canterbury Drive, Peabody, MA 01960

Shiva will be held at the home of Arlene and Jerry Silverlieb directly following the service.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to The Alzheimer’s Association.
