Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1938 to Joseph and Miriam Radov, he received a BA in Philosophy from Oberlin College and pursued graduate study in Economics at the University of Chicago. A founding member of the Economics faculty at UC Irvine, he was passionate about teaching economics and using it to improve and enrich urban environments. He loved food, movies and music, and finding hidden gems in the cities where he lived and worked.
He is survived by his son Daniel, his grandchildren Rohan, Anusha, and Priya, and his sister Alice.
