Our beloved Miriam Bloomberg Shutzer, 97, passed away peacefully at home at The Residence in Swampscott on June 1, 2026. She leaves behind her daughter Nancy Stacey (Glenn), brother Carl Bloomberg (Meg Levine), grandchildren Matt Shutzer (Jeannette), Deenah Lewey (Ben), Mya Meyers (mom Robyn), Frank P. Ferdinand, Jr (Ashley), Ashley Stacey (Matt), great grandchildren Frankie, Emma, and Riley, nephew Ken Shutzer (Carole), nieces Sally Hindin (David) and Jill May (Paul), and nephew Jon Bloomberg (Colleen). Mim was predeceased by her parents Gert and Sam Bloomberg, her husband of 71 years Larry, her brother Len, and her sons David and Steven.
After graduating from Smith College, Mim married Larry and raised their three children. Her love and devotion to her children knew no bounds and expanded over the years to include many dear times with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. As Frank noted at Mim’s funeral, she was his rock.
Mim’s care for others extended well beyond her family. She embodied the spirit of Tikkun Olam by contributing generously to the Jewish community, volunteering at the Jewish Community Center, Temple Emanuel-El and the Jewish Federation of the North Shore. The community embraced Mim by honoring her with multiple prestigious awards. Family and friends will always remember Mim’s beautiful smile, unbounded kindness and positive outlook on life. Everyone loved, respected and admired Mim.
The family wishes to thank Mim’s many friends, especially Bob Goldman, Jenna DiPietro, Lindsay Boskin and the generous staff at The Residence for loving and taking such good care of Mim. If you wish, donations may be made in Mim’s memory to Temple Emanu-El in Marblehead, Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Boston, or a charity of your choice.
