Sharaf, Morris, 97, of Salem, Massachusetts, entered eternal rest on October 3, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Israel and Bessie (Rovner) Sharaf, and was married to the love of his life, Helene, for 57 years. Beloved father of Neil (Rachel) Sharaf, Rhonna Adams, Wayne (Amy) Sharaf and Laurel (Steven) Cohen. He was the dear brother of Anne Finkel (deceased) and Betty Tatelman. Devoted grandfather of Joby, Gregory, Ariane, Sarah, Jason, Mallory, Liana, Joshua, and Eliza. He loved his nieces and nephews Matthew, Iris, Michele, Larry and Bobby and his deceased aunt's and uncles Ida Rose and Barney and their loved ones. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to a multitude. Maish lived life to the fullest with his beloved wife, Helene. Their motto was "another day another adventure." He worked 38 years for Raytheon and loved his work as a senior project engineer. He was most proud of his work on the Polaris, Poseidon and Trident ICBM computer systems. He was a gourmand who loved his belly and dining at different venues. Maish also loved music, opera, and local dinner theater. He was a particularly observant and detailed individual. People who knew him would understand the comic strip on his refrigerator with the punchline "you scrambled the wrong egg."
Maish was a practicing Jew. He was proud to be a founder of Temple Ner Tamid in Peabody and also belonged to several synagogues over the years. He was a proud Navy veteran, serving on the USS Rochester, a Master Freemason and aviation enthusiast who completed his first solo many decades ago. Lastly, he loved and cherished Mara Cohen, as if she were a daughter. His special friend, she cared for him in his elder years and devoted many hours to his well-being.
There is, and was, no one like Morris I. Sharaf. He was loved, lived a life of adventure, and will be greatly missed.
His Funeral Service will be held at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, Salem on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11 AM. Burial at Maple Hill Cemetery, Peabody.
