Dr. Myron “Ron” Nevins passed away on December 24, 2025, at the age of 87. Colleagues and friends knew him as a consummate professional. Ron was born in Philadelphia and attended Temple University. He earned his Doctor of Dental Sciences from Temple University School of Dentistry and pursued his Periodontal training at Boston University before entering into practice with Dr. Gerald M. Kramer in Swampscott, MA.
In addition to being a world-renowned clinician and surgeon, he was a pioneer in periodontal and implant therapy, bone regeneration, and tissue engineering. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry. He held multiple faculty appointments and continued to lecture at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He founded the Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and chaired 14 International Symposia on Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry. He was the recipient of innumerable honors and awards throughout his distinguished career.
All who knew Ron also knew that his wife Marcy, of 64 years, was his great supporter, enabler, and partner in everything he achieved. Ron was a generous, kind, and loyal friend and dedicated to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Marcy Nevins, sons Michael and wife Kim Nevins, Marc and wife Stacey Nevins, and grandchildren Elizabeth, Alec, and Jacob Nevins who all loved him dearly. He was known to them fondly as Chief. His best traits live on in them. Ron was the oldest son of Dr. Milton and Mary Nevins with two brothers, Richard and Bruce Nevins.
Always committed to his Jewish faith, he found a renewed passion for the Torah in his later years. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions in his memory to:
