November 9th, 1928 – April 1st, 2023
Phyllis Chessler Kransberg age 94 of Beverly Massachusetts, entered into rest on April 1st, 2023, surrounded by her loving Family at home. Beloved wife of Edward Lee Kransberg. Devoted mother of Patti Whitfield, Seth Kransberg, and Elizabeth Kransberg. Cherished Grandmother of Collin Goodrow, Alexandra McElhiney, Matthew Kransberg, Allegra Whitfield, and Paige Kransberg. Beloved Great-Grandmother of Griffin Goodrow, Stella-Rose McElhiney, Oliver Goodrow, Penelope Goodrow, and Spencer McElhiney. Dear daughter of (the late) Maurice and Rosalind Chessler.
Phyllis was born and raised as an only child in Boston, Massachusetts, in a very loving and caring home. She graduated from Boston Latin High School in 1946, receiving numerous awards and the highest honors. She went on to attend the University of Miami, where she majored in English Literature and minored in French. When she moved back to Boston, she enrolled in the Academie of Moderne Finishing School and went on to become a professional model. Phyllis worked in administration at Beth Israel Hospital until she married and had children.
Phyllis pursued and worked in antiques for many years, building a strong community and becoming extremely well respected in many different types of antiques, but particularly dolls. She and her husband, Edward, spent many days antiquing and treasure hunting. She has passed on her passion for antiques to her children and grandchildren, and her antique legacy will live on in them forever.
Phyllis was a talented writer as well as an avid reader. She often enjoyed swimming, playing tennis, walking, and dancing. She adored all the arts, including theater, music, film, and visiting Museums. The biggest joys in her life were her marriage to Edward, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, with whom she shared many wonderful days.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Phyllis on Saturday, April 15th, at 1pm, at 200 Loring Hills Ave., Salem, MA, on the Swampscott/Salem line by Vinnin Square in the Village Complex Club House. Friends and family are all welcome.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital online here or mail to 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
