Bette passed away in 2021 after a courageous 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Richard is survived by his son Clayton Weiss and daughter Mira (Weiss) Kucharsky and her husband David. Born in Lynn, MA, Richard grew up in Swampscott, MA where he met Bette in high school. From their early start attending both their junior and senior proms together, they also settled and raised their family in Swampscott.
Richard received his law degree from Suffolk University in 1973 after completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Massachusetts. He opened up small legal practice in Boston and practiced general law for over 35 years.
Richard loved dogs and always had a soft spot for supporting animals in need. Over the years he authored several books with topics ranging from legal anecdotes to his time spent in the Coast Guard. He had many hobbies including tennis, ping pong, and playing pool. He was an extremely accomplished master bridge player. His bridge partners and the time spent together through the years was one of the most cherished aspects of his life.
