Morse, Sandra Ruth (nee Bernson), 95, of Brooksby Village, Peabody, MA passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024. She is predeceased by her husband, Merton Morse, and her brother, Robert Bernson. Sandra is survived by children Andrew (Tina), Scott and Ellen Polansky as well as Diane, Jim (Susan Miesfeldt) and Bob (Andrea Smith) Morse and her brother, Haskell. She was the loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Born on August 19, 1928 Sandra grew up in Salem, MA where she graduated high school. She went on to earn a degree in Fine Arts from Boston University. Her subsequent career in the fine arts ranged from work at the Fuller Art Center and Peabody Essex Museum in addition to several interior decorating stints. She also ran her own interior design business while raising three children. These endeavors never diminished her devotion, loyalty and love as a mother.
After marrying Burton Polansky in 1950, she lived in New York City, Salem, Mexico City, Newton, Marblehead and Brockton, MA.
Her marriage to Merton was long and happy. Their 40 years together were filled with travel, cultural events and entertaining friends and family. They spent many years dividing their time between Bonita Springs, Florida and Salem, MA, before settling at Brooksby Village. There, Sandra continued her many artistic endeavors while playing Bridge and then Mah Jong right up until her final days.
All who knew Sandra were charmed by her keen powers of observation, sharp wit and most especially, her style and elegance. She had a sense for color and design that --when combined with her boundless energy to create— left behind a dazzling array of paintings, pottery, jewelry and collectables that will grace many a loved one’s home for years to come. Private funeral arrangements have been made.
