Sherman “Red” Somerset of Peabody, MA, entered into rest on April 19, 2019, at the age of 94. He was the dear son of the late Sylvia and Morris Somerset; beloved husband of Natalie Somerset (deceased). He was the brother of Francis Allard and the late Arlene Thomas. He is survived by his devoted companion, Carlene Washburn; daughter Meri and her husband Arnold Horowitz, daughter Sylvia and her husband Raymond Anderson, and son David and his wife Marcia Somerset; grandchildren Justin Somerset, Margaret Somerset, Mark Horowitz, and Max Horowitz.
Red grew up in Lynn, MA, graduated from Lynn Classical High School, and attended Northeastern University. He raised his family in Lynn, Melrose, and Marblehead, MA. He was a highly regarded and accomplished engineer with world and US patents. He served on many important national committees that influenced the development of technology in his field.
He loved traveling and attending events with his beloved companion, Carlene, and his many friends at Brooksby. He cherished time spent with family, friends, and respected colleagues.
A funeral service for Red will be held on Wednesday April 24, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the Interfaith Chapel, Macintosh Clubhouse, Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA 01960 with interment at Pride of Lynn Cemetery, Lakeshore Road, Lynn, MA 01904.
A meal of consolation (reception) will be held at the Harvest Grill Restaurant, at the Kingsbury Clubhouse, on the Brooksby Village Campus on April 24th, 2019 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.
