Shirley Rosen

She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley “Sooky” Rosen and the devoted mother of Valerie White and her partner, Robert Russo, of Marblehead; Stacey Lubets and her husband, David, of Swampscott; and Donna Paresky and her husband, Gary, of Marblehead.

Shirley was the cherished grandmother of Lindsay Rando and her husband, Derek; Jesse White and his wife, Kristin; Spencer Paresky and his husband, Ryan Modica; and Rachel Thomaszvic and her husband, Brandon. She was the adored great-grandmother of Rex and Jet Rando, Will, Millie and Henry White, and Logan Thomaszvic.

Shirley grew up in Revere, graduated from Revere High School, and raised her family in Marblehead. She was a true original who marched to the beat of her own drum and lived life on her own terms. Shirley was a real character, with a personality all her own, and everybody adored her.

She had a lifelong appreciation for music, a passion she shared with her late husband, Sooky, who was a musician. She also enjoyed making jewelry and, most of all, thrift shopping. She had a special eye for finding treasures and delighted in discovering something unique. Shirley was a true people person who enjoyed being surrounded by others and had a way of making people feel welcome. She embraced life fully and certainly never lost her eye for the men.

After Sooky’s passing, Shirley shared ten special years with her longtime companion, Milton Shapiro. Their years together brought companionship, laughter, and affection into her life, and Milton held a special place in her heart.

Shirley was an entrepreneur ahead of her time and the proud owner of Treasure Chest, the first consignment shop on the North Shore. Even in her 90s, Shirley continued to create and reinvent herself, starting her own business making and selling handmade rings called “Ring a Ding Ding.” Her independence, creativity, and unmistakable sense of style were reflected in everything she did.

Shirley lived life her own way and never tried to be anyone other than herself. She was spirited, independent, warm, fun-loving, and wonderfully memorable. She leaves behind a family who cherished her deeply, as well as countless friends and acquaintances whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing her.

Shirley left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her stories, her laughter, her spirit, and her unmistakable personality will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

She will be remembered, talked about, and treasured for generations to come.

A private Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held.
