Billie Sue Grant

October 5, 1932May 1, 2021

Billie Sue Grant, a Mother, Grandmother, Mother-in-law and Friend to so many, was called home on May 1, 2021.

She was born in Eufaula, Oklahoma on October 5th, 1932, the daughter of Bill and Jessie Redman.

Billie had five brothers and sisters: Glendene DePriest, Clifford Martin, Tracy Redman, Sheridan Redman and Sherry Redman.

She married Kenneth Charles Grant on September 7, 1951. They raised two sons, Ronald Charles Grant and Byron Kenneth Grant.

Her grandchildren, Jennifer Noelle Grant, Lauren Elizabeth Grant, and Garrison Charles Grant, meant the world to her. Her love of fishing was passed on to her sons and grandchildren and they spent many days fishing together.

Billie would talk about working hard in the fields with her parents and told stories of their gardens that included just about every vegetable you could imagine. She was one of the few people that actually “loved” okra. She talked about leaving the fields close to lunch time in order to make it back to the house to prepare lunch for the family; so young she’d need to climb up on a crate to reach the stovetop. All those years of gardening grew into great cooking. She loved cooking and preparing meals for her friends and family and they loved eating them. Billie Sue lived a selfless life always caring for others in her family and church family. She took time to spend with those in need. Her family and friends meant so much to her. She never met a stranger. She loved people and her huge smile made that evident. She could carry on a conversation with just about anyone (whether they wanted to or not😊).

Billie was an avid reader and you would often find her sitting in her favorite chair with a book in hand. She loved readers digest and reading novels, but her bible was by far the most prized book of all. Billie loved the Lord with her whole heart. Billie was a strong woman. She was firm in her beliefs, steadfast in her love for the Lord, and had unwavering faith.

Billie’s gracious and gregarious nature, her laugh, and big cheerful smile will be missed.

A funeral service for Billie will be held Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors, 1350 Commercial Street SE, Salem, OR 97302.

So sorry for your loss. Your parents become my pastor when I was 14 at Keizer A/G.
I really was glad to become friends when I returned to Salem and will truly miss her.
One memory was when she was pregnant with you Byron, your father had to be at kids camp and I would stay overnight with your mom.
