Christopher Wayne Miller September 2nd, 1945 - December 30th, 2019

Chris was born to William B. Miller and Angeline Anna (Jean) Schad on September 2, 1945 in Lane County, Oregon and was baptized on September 23rd, 1945 at St. Mary's church in Eugene, Oregon. He was confirmed at St. Alice church in Springfield around the age of 12. Chris became a member of Redeemer Lutheran not long after they started attending here in early 1991.

Chris enjoyed playing the accordion when he was in high school and avoided sports. He studied for a short time at the St. Benedict minor seminary in Mount Angel and Chris graduated from St. Francis High School in Eugene, Oregon in 1963.

Chris joined the Air Force in January 1964 and was stationed at March Air Force base in Riverside, California. He rarely talked about his stint in food service, but he was very proud to serve as an honor guard during the Vietnam War.

Chris started working for the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs as a loan officer in 1979. He was introduced to Janet Rorrer that first day on the job as a person who would never steer him wrong. They were married in 1985 and just celebrated their 34th anniversary. Chris was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He had two daughters, Sherri and Theresa, from a prior marriage and Janet had a daughter, Renee Rorrer, from her prior marriage. When Jennifer Angeline was born in 1991, she blended their family and gave them a lot of joy. There are 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He continued to work for the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs as a collections officer, Collection Supervisor, and Customer Service Specialist. Chris worked as a Veterans' Benefits Counselor helping veterans and widows obtain benefits. He retired in 2002.

He had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 1987, fought valiantly over the years, but lost his battle with cancer on Monday, December 30th, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Janette. Chris is at peace now, in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I had the good fortune to work with Chris from 1997 until he retired at the Oregon Dept. of Veterans' Affairs.
Chris was kind and always willing to share some good advise and guidance. He was a good guy who I will always remember with respect and admiration.
Rest in peace my friend.
