December 28, 1953 - December 28, 2023
With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Cynthia "Cindy" Lou McNeal on her 70th birthday, December 28, 2023 after a battle with dementia. Born in Salem to Dale and Beulah Brown, Cindy was a lifelong resident of Salem, attending North Salem High School and briefly studying at Oregon State University.
Cindy had a fulfilling career at Salem Academy, and later at the Oregon Department of Revenue, known for her dependability and kindness. In 2000, she married Steve McNeal, and they shared a life marked by love and mutual support. Steve's devotion and dedication to Cindy, especially in her final years, was a testament to their deep bond.
Cindy is survived by her husband Steve McNeal and her brother Richard Brown, as well as her former husband Bruce Beebe and their sons Sean (Amy) Beebe, Brian (Marci) Beebe, and Matt Beebe (David Mifflin). She was a doting grandmother to Kelsey, Ryan, Natalie, Chloe, Anya, Willow, Éowyn, Sydney, and Milo. She was predeceased by her parents Dale and Beulah Brown and her brother Larry Brown. She is also survived by Steve's family: Margaret McNeal, Beverly Reimann (Dick), Shirley Rodvold (Pete), Steven McNeal Jr., and Benjamin McNeal.
She adored her cats, took great pride in her collection of collectibles, and enjoyed playing pinochle with her family. Her happiest moments were often spent embracing the beauty of life with her grandchildren, at the Oregon coast, or cruising in her sporty red cars. Cindy's legacy of kindness and warmth will continue to inspire those who knew her.
A service to celebrate Cindy's life is planned for Saturday, January 6 at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom at 2:00 p.m. Viewing to be held before the celebration from 1:00 p.m - 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to join and share their memories.
