David Sledge was born in Duluth, MN to David and Virginia Sledge. He served in the Navy on the USS Kenneth Whiting during WWII. He recently received his WWII service metals this past October. When David left the Navy, he returned to the Mid Valley to marry his wife, Jane. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. David was an active member of the Santiam Chapel Assembles of God in Lyons, OR, logger by trade, and an avid gardener and hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; daugthers Barbara (Melvin) Stockwell, Marsha Kelson and Susan (Patrick) Harmon; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters Grace Ekland, Jean Bremer and Leah Music. He is preceded in death by his son, David B. Sledge.
Funeral Services are scheduled on Monday, December 19th at 11:00 AM at Salem Evangelical Church. Internment will be at Willamette National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 20 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fisher House and Parkinson.org.
