David was born June 28,1955 to Gene and Shirley Stauber. He spent his childhood in Lincoln City until moving to Salem his freshman year of high school. He joined the army at 18, and was stationed in Schwabisch Gmund, Germany, where he served from 1974-1976.
Shortly after his military service, he met the love of his life, Joan Young who became his beloved wife of 43 years. During this time, they had two children: Trevor and Stephanie, as well as six grandchildren whom he adored.
As a man of strong work ethic and dedication, David always worked tirelessly to provide for his family, both in his long-time career of transporting vehicles, and as a successful business owner of Premier Garage.
Anyone who knew David, knew of his love of golf, fishing, and hunting. Post retirement, he spent his days enjoying these passions with friends, working on home improvement projects, perfecting his lawn, and using his many abilities to help those in need.
David’s servant heart led him on many missions trips overseas. He traveled with the Nazarene Church to Grand Cayman, Barbados, Argentina, and Honduras twice, and most recently on a trip to Ukraine with Church on the Hill in June, 2024.
David is preceded in death by his father, Gene. He is survived by many, including his wife Joan, son Trevor Stauber (Cristina), daughter Stephanie Madsen (Michael), grandchildren: Lena, Ella, and Cora Stauber, and Taylor, Jonah, and Eve Madsen, his mother Shirley, siblings: Sharon Star, Julie Rouske, Martin Stauber, Craig Stauber, and Connie Stauber.
Details of a memorial service will be posted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Station, or to Church on the Hill to support future missions.
