Doug. A thoughtful, whimsical, loving husband, great father, grandfather, brother and dear, dear friend; whose laughter carries through hundreds of hearts and whose personality was enjoyed by all. Doug was a man of simple moralities and strong love, who put his family first, and was there whenever a loved one needed him...and gave the best hugs ever!
A skillful carpenter, Doug brought beauty into all of his creations, just as he did in his relationships. A wonderful character in his own way, he found the humor in many things and kept finding it even when others couldn't; laughing again far after a joke was made.
Doug was an animal lover, more than he would ever admit. Feeding wildlife at every opportunity and grumbling--but loving--the newly found strays around his and Angie's property. He loved rock music, great beer, camp fires, laughs, kayaking and hiking to the summit of Mt. Hood; motorcycles, long drives, and ziplining through the trees. Doug was full of spirit and adventure, and he took in as much life as he possibly could.
"A great man" is an understatement for the kind of special Doug entails...even down to his last physical days here on this plain; Doug is an organ donor, and will help seed life over Father's Day. An honor that fully suits him.
Doug was survived by his wife, Angie; his sons, Dayland and Dray; his stepdaughters, Crystal VanCamp and Heather Dalton; his brother, Steve (Cheri) Beer; his sister, Joan (Mike) Arnett; his sister, Laurel Strong; his brother, Carey (Lauren) Beer; his sister, Elaine Beer; his brother, Curt Beer; his brother, Jim Beer; and his sister, Kris (Tom) Volpe; and his granddaughter, Gracelynn.
