Ella Morrison, 87, of Salem, passed away in her sleep surrounded by love on September 20th after a long battle with dementia. Born on September 19, 1936, she was the baby of eleven children. She was raised on Gooseneck Road in Sheridan by her parents Mabel and David Lambert, and (to her delight) many older siblings, including her closest sister Mae, who is still keeping us kids in line.
Moving to Salem in her twenties, she married Merle Kerby. The marriage did not hold the dreams Ella had hoped for, with the exception of her two children, Lillian Bergstedt and David Kerby, who were her life. She later married Ed Morrison in 1974; they divorced in 1995.
Ella appreciated hard work so very much. She was proud of her many years working at Stayton Canning. Once she retired, her ceramic shop (E&E Ceramics) did not keep her busy enough, so she became a Walmart Greeter. She loved greeting her customers with hugs, smiles, and genuine love. When dementia set in, her “job" was to color pictures, and boy did she color with all her heart.
Ella’s eyes would light up with even the thought of her children, David and Lil, and her son-in-law, Brad. Her grandchildren, Brock, Alizabeth, Heather, Jeff, and Lauren were the butter on her white bread, but nothing compared to her adoration of her great grandchildren: Otis, Mosley, and August.
Ella's family would like to invite you to a celebration of life open house in her honor. Please come as you are to share stories of our wonderful and spicy Ella on October 7, 2023 from 1-4pm. The address is 2236 Juntura Court S., Salem, Oregon 97302.
