Erlene A. Butler

GRESHAM - Erlene was born April 8, 1919 in Clarkes, Oregon to Fred and Olga Josi. After graduating from Molalla High School, she went on to Good Samaritan School of Nursing, graduating in 1943. She worked as a Registered Nurse at hospitals in Portland, Camp Cooke, CA, Corvallis and Salem. She married Frank Butler in 1943. She was a devoted, loving wife to Frank Leroy Butler, mother, grandmother and older sister. She wholeheartedly served her Lord Jesus Christ, and was very involved in her church, Salem Evangelical.

Erlene was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2003, and siblings Verna, Marjorie, Dorothy and Robert. She is survived by her brother Norman of Redmond, OR; sister Mildred of Port Angeles, WA; son Arthur of Salem; son Philip of Falls City; son Leroy of Pendleton; daughter Francene (John) Dezellem of Gresham; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salem Evangelical Church, 455 Locust Street NE, Salem, OR 97301, or Concerned Women for America.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2:30 pm at Springwater Church of the Nazarene, 3445 SE Hillyard Rd, Gresham. Interment at Belcrest Memorial Park. Arrangements by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Funeral Home; online condolences at www.HED-FH.com.
