

A resident of San Jose, CA for 61 years, passed away on December 17, 2024, in Keizer, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Baird and is survived by her daughters, Bev White of Turner, OR and Nan O’Brien of Los Gatos, CA; her son-in-laws Bill and Joe; grandchildren, Chris, Mike, Michelle, and Jason; and great-granddaughters, Taytum and Elliana.
Gloria was born in Oak Park, ILL, on Oct. 7, 1929. She earned her degree from the Univ. of Illinois, and was President of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She met Robert in college and they were married for 52 years. Together they enjoyed boating and traveling the world-visiting over 50 countries and all 50 states. After Robert’s death in 2004, she joined Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she was an active member/Deacon for over 15 years. She continued her love of travel, taking Bev and Nan on cruises to Australia, New Zealand, and Europe.
While raising her girls, she was very active as President of the PTA and Neighborhood Chairman of the Santa Clara Co. Chapter of Girl Scouts. She earned a master’s degree and taught at San Jose State, West Valley, and Mission College.
Services will be held at 11am on Fri., January 17, 2025 at TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 3151 Union Ave., San Jose, CA. Interment to follow at Los Gatos Memorial Park. Donations can be made in her name to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, 4600 Evergreen St SE, Albany, OR 97322.
