Harvey Alan Wyss

Born on April 21, 1935, in Tillamook, Oregon, Harvey was the youngest of nine children born to Gottlieb Wyss and Anna Zurflheuh Wyss. Growing up in Tillamook, Oregon, he developed a strong work ethic early on. After graduating from high school in 1953, Harvey proudly served his country in the United States Army. Stationed in Germany with Company A, 447th Signal Battalion. He provided essential woodworking support to his unit during his three years of service before being honorably discharged in October 1956.

Following his military service, Harvey returned home and worked various jobs. When a devastating fire destroyed his family's dairy farm's barn, Harvey stepped up to work on the dairy farm on Trask River to support his parents, eventually purchasing the farm around 1960. His dedication to agriculture and hard work culminated in his dairy farm being honored as Farm of the Year in 1975.

In 1961, Harvey met the love of his life, Jeanette Betschart. They were united in marriage in Tillamook on May 11, 1963, beginning a beautiful 63-year journey together rooted in deep devotion, partnership, and family.

Harvey was a deeply dedicated community member. He served as Exalted Ruler of the Tillamook Elks Club from 1966 to 1967 and later served on the Board of Directors for the Tillamook YMCA in the early 1990s.

In March 1968, Harvey and Jeanette welcomed home their first daughter, Tiffany, and in May 1970 their second daughter, Anne Marie.

In 1979, Harvey built a home on the hill overlooking the family farm. He then sold the farm and established Alpine Construction. Operating heavy equipment - Including his 6- yard truck, 12 - yard truck, and backhoes - Harvey was always hard at work providing essential ground construction throughout Tillamook County.

In the mid - 1990s, Harvey sold Alpine Construction to Keith & Sandy Brenenstuhl and began a well-earned semi-retirement. He and Jeanette enjoyed winters in Palm Desert, California, while spending their summers in Oregon. In 2003, they sold their Tillamook home and settled in Keizer, Oregon, though Harvey always loved staying busy and frequently visited their Bay City home to keep his hands active.

Harvey and Jeanette also shared a love of travel, exploring the world together and creating lasting memories through adventures in China, Europe, Australia, and many other destinations along the way. His favorite destination being his homeland of Switzerland.

Above all else, Harvey was a devoted family man. Known for his kind nature, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, his greatest pride and joy was his family.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Gottlieb and Anna Wyss; seven brothers and sisters; and his beloved grandson, Troy Laviolette. He is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife, Jeanette Wyss; his daughters, Tiffany Laviolette and Anne Marie Mattson (Dan); his cherished grandchildren, Trevor Laviolette, Sydney Mattson, Taylor Mattson and Riley Mattson; his older brother, Clarence Wyss; and his beloved grand - pups Honey and Peaches.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to be made in Harvey's honor to Shriner's Children's Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Project or a charitable organization of your choice.
