Jim was born in Tobe, Colorado on May 24, 1924. He honorably served his country In the US Navy, serving on four different submarines, USS Nautilus, USS Flounder, USS Tuna, and USS Thresher, in the Pacific.
Jim married Shirley Strickland on October 12, 1946.
A soft spoken man of integrity who loved the Lord, in his own words: I came to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in 1953 and joined the First Baptist Church of Hillsboro Oregon. Jesus came from Heaven to live as a man then was crucified, shedding His blood to wash away our sins. All we have to do is ask Him to come into our heart and save us from our sins and He will. I look for Him to return and meet us in the air and take us to Heaven. We will be with Jesus Christ forever.
Jim is survived by his two sons, Dave and Tim, 5 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He will be truly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May26 2025 at 10:00 AM at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors, 1350 Commercial St. SE, Salem, OR 97302. Jim will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery.
