It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmy Wayne Fulfer, who left this world on July 7, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on November 11, 1941, in the small town of Salt Gap, Texas, Jimmy brought warmth, humor, and a spirit of adventure to everyone he met.
Jimmy was the beloved son of the late Andrew and Mary Fulfer. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Marvin Fulfer, sister Ruth Turner, sister Mary Kennedy, and cherished grandson, Justin Tovar. Jimmy’s legacy lives on through his loving partner of nearly 30 years, Barbara Moyer, his devoted children, son Jimmy Fulfer Jr. and his wife Jennifer, daughters Shiela Kohr and Leanna Noble, as well as his six grandchildren, Michael Tovar and wife Victoria, Heather Tovar, Chris Tovar and wife Kathleen, Ryan Kohr, and Karley Tovar. His eight great-grandchildren, including Ethan Gaona, Benjamin Tovar and wife Summer, Allison Pritt, James Pritt, Teagan Tovar, Laken Kohr, Oliver Tovar, and Blake Tovar, and his great-great-grandson, Jasper Tovar, will continue to carry forward his legacy. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Following his graduation from Delano High School in California, Jimmy served his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965 as a Boiler Tech Fireman. After his military service, Jimmy embarked on a career as a mail carrier and explored various other occupations, including working on an Emu farm. His varied career highlighted his adaptability and zest for life. Jimmy was also a gifted woodworker and a master tinkerer, always creating something beautiful with his hands.
Jimmy’s passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for fishing and hunting, hobbies he enjoyed sharing with his son, Jimmy Jr., and friends. His stories and pictures from their trips were legendary, bringing joy and laughter to all who listened. Known for his friendly demeanor, Jimmy rarely met a stranger. His quick wit, jokes, and famous string tricks endeared him too many, while his daily walks with his little pup, Misty, passing out candy, brought smiles to his neighbors’ faces. Tragically, Misty passed just five days after Jimmy, leaving a poignant reminder of their inseparable bond.
Jimmy spent the years from 1962 to 1972 married to Linda Evans (Wagoner), with whom he shared the joy of raising their three children. His enduring partnership with Barbara “Elaine” Moyer over the past 29 years was a testament to the love and companionship they cherished together.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd, Portland, Oregon 97806, on July 23, 2026, at 2:30 pm.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Dallas City Park in Dallas, Oregon, on July 24, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Jimmy will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
