Joan Marie Finley passed away, peacefully, on January 12, 2022, at age 87. Joan Marie Houston was born on February 13, 1934 in La Grande, Oregon to; Lee David Houston (born in Oregon) and Marie Lillian Silk (born in Washington).
Joan grew up in La Grande, graduating from High School in 1952. Joan married John David Finley, also of La Grande, at Pioneer Park Church of God, on August 16, 1952. Joan and John reared three sons; Dennis (now deceased), Randy and Bruce.
Joan was a homemaker for the first part of her marriage. She and her husband enjoyed playing pinochle and other card games. Joan and John were quite good at putting on short skits, which entertained many and they were active Square Dancers, as well.
Joan worked for the large electronic test and measuring equipment company, Tektronix, in Beaverton, Oregon, for many years.
Joan and John were Christians and active in the various Churches they attended; most recently, West Salem Christian Church in Salem, Oregon.
Joan is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, John; two brothers, Don Houston and Roger Houston; and one son, Dennis Finley. Joan is survived by her brother Mike Houston (and his wife, Jean); Joan’s two sons, Randy Finley and Bruce Finley (and his wife, Joanne Finley); 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Joan will be interned with her Husband, John (a Navy Veteran), at Willamette National Cemetery.
Any contributions can be made in Joan’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project or West Salem Christian Church.
