1956 – 2025
Mark Hainzl, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 68 years old.
Born in Albany, Georgia, on August 3, 1956, Mark eventually made his home in Salem, Oregon, where he spent most of his life. In July of 1986, he married Sharon Bell, the love of his life and his constant companion for nearly 40 years. Together, they built a life full of laughter, love, and adventure.
Mark was a talented and respected truss designer, known for his strong work ethic. But it was the way he lived beyond work that truly defined him. He was adventurous to his core—an adrenaline-seeker who loved scuba diving, rollercoasters, and even went skydiving not once, but twice. He had a passion for travel and cruising, and never passed up a chance to explore somewhere new. He loved sunshine and the outdoors, especially camping, and found joy in nature. He and Sharon spent the past four years wintering in Arizona, where they made cherished memories and friendships.
Mark was full of life, happy-go-lucky, and rarely seen without a smile. He never met a stranger—he loved meeting new people, and was a friend to all. He had a deep love for music, unwavering loyalty to the Miami Dolphins, and an even deeper love for his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished “Popo” to his grandchildren. Whether cheering from the sidelines, telling stories around the campfire, or sharing a laugh over a plate of BBQ, Mark was a steady, constant presence in his family's life.
Mark is survived by his wife Sharon; his mother, Mary Grace; three sisters; five daughters; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love, joy, and living life to the fullest.
He was one of a kind—and he will be deeply missed every single day.
