Julie Ann Smith

April 1, 1968September 15, 2020

Julie Ann Smith was born April 1, 1968 in Weymouth, Massachusetts to parents Russell and Julia (Tucker) Smith of Whitman, Massachusetts. From the moment of her birth, she was the apple of her father’s eye and they would share a special bond like no other until his passing in May of 2020.

She joined sister Leanna Marie and the family lived in modest home next to Russell’s parents at 125 Winter St. In the early years they enjoyed the daily contact with Gramma and Grampa Smith and their many cousins and extended family next door. When her Dad’s work was relocated to Cape Cod, MA., Julie and her sister joined him there. Julie went to Eastham Grammar School from 1974 until 1977. She enjoyed playing Little League and was one the first girls to play on the boys team. During the fall of 1977 the family; Dad and Stepmom Cyndy, Leanna, Julie and little brothers Timmy and Eric, moved to Salem, Oregon by camping their way across the country.

As a teen, Julie enjoyed singing in the school choir and riding her horse Sassy. Motherhood ultimately would be the most important focus of Julie’s life. Her children were her reason for being and ultimately her legacy. In her early adult years she struggled with addiction, it was her children and doing the best for them that gave her the strength to beat it. Julie felt accomplished and was very proud of the fact that she lived the last 15 years of her life clean and sober.

She never missed any of her children’s school programs and she especially loved attending son, Enrique’s baseball games. She just beamed with pride every time he stepped up to the plate. She so enjoyed family road trips to the coast, family BBQ’s, and the annual family Thanksgiving dinner she and her dad hosted every year.

Her greatest joy would come from her grandchildren, which she adored. She loved being Nana and Little Grandma to Hunter, Peyton, Harley, Addison and Aiden; as was evidenced by their many pictures that adorned her home and the 100’s of toddler toys in her living room.

She left this world peacefully in her sleep on September 15, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Smith; and brother, Timothy Smith. She is survived by her daughters Ofelia (Roy) Lorenz, Ana (Tim) Barrick, and son Enrique Smith; grandchildren; Peyton, Harley, Hunter, Aiden and Addison; brother, Eric Smith; sister, Leanna Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Today I am remembering my cousin Julie as her family members lay her to rest. I will always remember our times together as young children with sister Leanne and their dad and our grandparents at their home. They bring so much joy to me when I think of those times together. I will remember that beautiful spunky ponytailed little girl. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time to have lost your dad, Grandpa and now Julie mom, sister, aunt is to much for a family to have to bare. I pray that you all will come together and hold each other close at this time. ❤️🌹🙏🏻🦋🕯

Tía, you will be missed. I loved you just like a mother and you were a special person. Life is tough but it makes us who we are. You made us laugh, fed us when we were hungry and loved us all. I hope you lived life as good as you could and have no regrets. SEE YA!! We will meet again. Love Mario (MiJO)
