Kathi Blakley

Kathi June Blakley, a resident of Salem, died on August 9, 2015 in Salem. She was 62 years of age.

Kathi was born on February 17, 1953 in Salem, Oregon and was the daughter of Pete Valdez and June Blakley (aka J. Birdsong). She grew up in Salem and graduated from McNary High School in 1971. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in History at Oregon State University; graduating in 1976.

Kathi resided in Salem for most of her life but also resided in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Washington. Early in her career, she worked in banking but found her passion as a Licensed Massage Therapist.

Kathi enjoyed spending time with her pets, family, and friends; reading novels with her book club; doing cross-stitch and knitting; and watching Columbo.

She is survived by her mother: J. Birdsong; brother: Ralph Blakely (wife: Glenna); sons: Benjamin Humphreys (wife: Brandy and children: Liam, Bridget, and Casey) and Joshua Blakley; niece: Kim Blakley; nephew: Loren Blakley (wife: Brittney, kids: Kaitlyn, Hunter, and Jacob); her dogs: Fiona and Bobby; and cat: Ozzie.

A Celebration of Kathi’s life will be on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Oregon Humane Society. Howell, Edwards, Doerksen is handling the arrangements.
