The word that best described Leroy Laack was “dedicated.” Be it his wife of 65 years, his sons, his work of 57 years, his garden, his cows, his customers and clients, and the many people he touched in his life over the years, he was a compassionate man with a firm sense of accomplishment and expected nothing that he wasn’t willing to give in return.
Leroy L. Lack, 89, of Salem, Ore., passed away December 11, 2016. He was born in St. Charles, Minn., on Dec. 2, 1927. He migrated to Oregon, working his way by harvesting and picking crops. Upon reaching Oregon, and while picking pole beans, he met and married the love of his life, Jean Ramonda Ditter on March 17, 1952. They have been inseparable for over 65 years.
Leroy had a successful career in real estate, in addition to working on the farm. He was a man who believed if you worked hard, there was nothing you couldn’t accomplish, and those who knew him knew his many accomplishments.
Leroy was a faithful member of the First Evangelical Church of Salem. He had a passion for gardening, farming, and raising beef cattle.
Leroy will truly be missed by his loving wife Jean; sons Robin and Steven Laack; grandchildren Ryan, Christine, Kelly, and Casey; and sister Lavonne. He was preceded in death by his brothers Carl and Leland Laack.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen Funeral Home in Salem, Ore., with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens.
