Levi grew up in Salem and attended North Salem High School for three years and graduated from McKay High School in 2009. Levi packed a lot of activities and life experiences into the 19 years he was with us. He pursued hobbies and favorite pastimes with a fearless abandon that family and friends would affectionately call "Levi Time" which generally meant right now, not later, no matter what the time of day. Those activities included band, bowling and tennis.
Levi was center snare on the drum line in marching band and participated in marching band, concert band and wind ensemble at North, and marching band at McKay. He participated on an all-city drum line that competed in the Northwest area and went on to a final Regional competition. Levi was requested to play drum set or percussion for several concerts and venues, which he loved to do.
During high school, besides participating in as many band classes as possible, he played on the Tennis team - both singles and doubles - and was named the one to watch his freshman year by the Statesman Journal. During the season he frequented Salem Racquet Sports to get multiple racquets restrung on a weekly basis! Levi got involved in bowling during a winter break when a classmate invited him to the team practice. That was all it took , Levi was lovin' the game. He continued with some coaching, improving his game and participated in a Junior program becoming one of the few junior bowlers in the Salem area to ever bowl a 300 game (a bowler's perfect game). After high school graduation he moved up to the adult level, joining the Portland All Stars, a regional traveling league for 200 plus average bowlers.
Levi was employed at 24 Hour Fitness and AMF Firebird Lanes. Besides bowling Levi was into cars. He loved attending car shows, working on cars and installing those obnoxious thumping stereos. He also loved the outdoors, frequently camped, loved to hike and bike.
Levi was the son of Tim and Carmen Spuhler, the younger brother of Travis Spuhler, brother-in-law to Charleen Spuhler and uncle to Adelaide Spuhler. His grandmother, Ruth Spuhler of Utah, aunt, Cheryl Council of Arizona, grandparents, Darrell and Julie LaFollette of Silverton, uncles, Robert and Shawn LaFollette of Salem, and countless family and friends will miss and remember the Levi they loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at Peoples Church, 4500 Lancaster Dr. N.E. Salem. Arrangements by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors. Online condolences at www.hed-fh.com.
