Lowell grew up on a farm in Lebanon as the fifth of six children. He served in the U.S. Air Force from December 30, 1959, until September 30, 1964, working as a mechanic on the Super Sabre F100 fighter jet. During his service, he met and married his beloved wife, Patsy. Returning to Oregon, they settled down, raised a family, and eventually hosted high school exchange students from around the world, many of whom affectionately called him “Dad.”
A quiet man of great integrity and kindness, Lowell let his actions speak for him. He loved a simple life, sharing a good laugh, and devoting himself to his family and work. He was employed for 30 years at Wah Chang while simultaneously operating a farm that grew crops and raised cattle and ostriches.
