Lowell graduated from Salem Academy in 1948, and from Seattle Pacific College in 1953. He married Rhoma Collett on August 19, 1950. Together they had four girls; Collette (Dickerson), Gail (Zickefoose), Denise (Gilmore), and Cara (Pygott). Lowell and Rhoma have 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
For ten years, Lowell was a coach and teacher in high schools and a Junior College in both Oregon and Washington. Lowell moved to Salem in 1962 and was a partner with his brother at Mike's Septic Service.
Lowell attended Salem First Church of the Nazarene where he served in numerous areas of leadership, including teaching teens and young adults for 31 years. He spent time playing basketball and snow skiing, which he enjoyed until his 80th birthday. Lowell will be remembered for his engaging smile, his positive attitude, and warm hospitality.
The family wants to say a special thanks to the staff at Orchard Heights Assisted Living Memory Unit and Hospice of the Northwest, for their excellent care of Lowell during the last 10 months.
Private interment, Belcrest Memorial Park. Celebration of Life service, Saturday, June 2, 2012, 1:30 PM, First Church of the Nazarene, 1550 Market Street, Salem, Oregon. Contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene building fund.
