Malcolm Gilbert “Tommy” Clarkson was born on January 3, 1924 in Virginia. He moved to Oregon in 1948 and married his wife Margaret in 1950. He served 25 years as an Oregon State Trooper, from 1953 to 1978 and retired with honor.
An avid fisherman, Tommy shared his passion for the Nestucca and other riverbanks with his friends, children and grandchildren. Every spring and summer he could be found working alongside his wife in his backyard garden growing an over- abundance of tomatoes, green beans, carrots, greens, raspberries and so much more. His life was filled with enthralling tales, laughter, love and his fearless, vibrant spirit.
He is survived by his wife Margaret; his brothers Bill, in North Carolina, and Ed in Louisiana; his children Becky, Kevin and Thomas; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is now reunited with his oldest daughter Linda in Heaven. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorial contributions be given to the Gideon International or Samaritan’s Purse.
There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, February 8th at 11:00 am at the Keizer Community Church with a luncheon to follow. Arrangements by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Ridgon-Ransom Funeral Directors www.HED-FH.com.
