

Marcus Lee Nix Jr. was born in Lompoc, CA to Amber Munoz and Marcus Nix on May 11th, 1998. He resided in Lompoc until 2006, then moved to Fairfield, CA. He spent the next 5 years living in the San Francisco Bay area where he played his first year of tackle football and enjoyed musical competitions playing the drums in middle school. He moved back to Lompoc his 8th grade year and attended Lompoc Middle School. He went on to attend Lompoc High School where he played basketball, baseball, and football while maintaining a gpa of 3.0 or higher all 4 years. He attended 1 year of college at Aurora University near Chicago and completed his education at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, CA where he played baseball as a Bulldog and earned an associate’s science degree in recreation, events, & sports management. He worked for the Lompoc Boys & Girls Club before relocating to Salem, Oregon in 2019 to reside with his brother who was attending Willamette University. He worked many jobs in the surrounding Salem area and was a jack of all trades. His love for dogs inspired him to become a certified dog trainer. He also enjoyed the time he spent working for Salem Child Development Center working the before and after school programs. He participated in coaching and assisting with youth sports camps and picked up a job in sports officiating for AAU Sports, SBOA, SUA, OAB and PCYBL. Over time, this became his passion. He was getting paid to be on the field/court, which was one of his life goals. He genuinely loved sports and working with kids. Sadly, on 9/8/25, Marcus was in a single car accident causing many bodily injuries. He succumbed to his injuries passing away on 9/11/25 surrounded by a majority of his California and Oregon family. He was 27 years old. His memory will be kept alive forever by everyone including his girlfriend/planned fiancé Jaylene Montano.
Marcus is survived by his mother Amber Munoz and father Marcus Nix. Stepparents Bryant Henderson and Jennifer Espinoza. Great grandmother Inez Munoz. Grandparents Bill (Buddy) & Trish Munoz and Sonny & Jackie Nix. Brother Xavier (Samantha) Nix and nephew (& best friend) Jaxson Nix. He also leaves behind his bonus siblings Zariah, Aubry, Elijah, Gabe, Julia, and Bella, Uncle’s James (Holly) Munoz, Corey Nix, Omar Epps, Aunt Sabrina (Glen) Lewis. He will also be missed greatly by his cousins Maurice, DJ, Lavell, Tori, Destinee, Dazia, Sarah, Mia, Isabella, Michelle, Shante, Lyssa, Christine, Rafa, and Danielle.
