Shortly before sunrise on May 12, 1933 in Fort Lupton, Colorado, Guy Lee Miles and Irene Inez Smith Miles welcomed their third daughter. Margie Dea Miles Morley, 90, our cherished mother, grandmother, and great grandmother always looked forward to Heaven. She was surrounded by family members when she passed away in her daughter’s home south of Salem on August 18, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen Morley, son Tom Morley, her four siblings, Lucille Miles Knutson Emrick Hatteberg, Leila Miles Miller, Roy Miles and Barbara Miles. She is survived by her children, Linda Morley, Cindy (Bruce) Miller and Julia Morley of Salem; Diana Nizich of Oregon City, Terry (Rose) Morley of Tennessee and beloved daughter-in-law Chloris Morley of OIympia. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a beloved collection of cherished step-grandchildren and step-great-grands.
Beginning in the late 1960s, Margie worked as a grocery checker in every Fred Meyer in Salem. We sometimes thought she knew at least half the town by name. She was a dedicated Christian and devoted to Jesus. She was always helping any way she could and even in the final weeks of her life was still sending cards and notes to family, friends and church members. During her life she was an active member of the Silverton First Christian Church, Liberty Christian Church and Turner Christian Church.
Interment is at Union Hill Cemetery, Sublimity, Oregon. An informal open house for family and friends will be held at the home of her daughter Cindy on Saturday, September 9 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Memorial gifts to Turner Christian Church, Turner, Oregon.
