Mavis was born on September 21st, 1928 in Birchtree, MO. to Orville and Ollie Casey. Her family moved frequently throughout her childhood finding beautiful Silverton where they lived for many years.
In her life Mavis worked alongside her husband, Francis Dunn, during his 40 years with the Statesman Journal. She also owned and operated More Fun Tours where she was able to travel the world meeting new people and making lasting friendships, something she cherished. She was also an accomplished gardener, especially her roses; a painter; a seamstress; and an antique restorer. There was nothing she couldn't do when she set her mind to it.
Survivors include her sister Sharon Petersen of Salem, children Shari Vanek of Salem, Barbara Long of Brookings and Wallace Dunn of Aloha. Grandchildren Traci Vanek of Tijeras, Hollie Vanek of Salem, Shelly Robb of Sonoma, Troy Dunn of Aloha, and Noel Dunn of Portland. Great-Grandchildren Andrew, Brison and Luke Monroe, all of Salem.
A private interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
We will be celebrating the life of Mavis at the open house of Hollie Vanek and Earl Hazekamp on Sunday December 14th from 2-4, 5255 Smith Rock ST SE Salem. Please join us; she loved a good party.
