Throughout the years they lived in Hood River, Anacortas WA, Moscow ID, St Johns OR, Brooks, and Keizer. Her daughters were born in Portland and Salem.
She was a homemaker who took her "work" seriously. She shared her husband's life commitment to ministry, supporting his involvement with churches throughout the state of Oregon. For many years while serving as the Oregon District Treasurer of the Assemblies of God, Dad would visit rural churches on a Sunday, where he and Mom would sing, Dad would preach, the congregation would serve up a good old-fashioned church potluck and then Dad would meet with the church leaders in the afternoon to help them with bookkeeping and insurance matters.
Mom began oil painting in her 60's and the family thought they were going to have to add walls in the house to display her paintings.
She loved her siblings (7 of them) and would typically celebrate her birthday with her twin at Multnomah Falls and with as many other family members who could join them. Her sweetheart of 72 years went to be with the Lord almost six years ago and she longed to be with him. She told family that apparently the Lord wasn't ready yet so she wanted to be faithful to do whatever He wanted her to do while she was still alive.
A praying woman, she carried many burdens to the gates of Heaven for her Heavenly Savior to handle.
Three descriptions of May that have been used by several as they've learned of her parting are: sweet-natured, hesitant to put anyone out, and she always looked good.
She was generous in her praise of her daughters, often telling them how proud she was of them. Her grandchildren all think they were her favorite. She delighted with the arrival of each of her six great-grandchildren and would love on them when she saw them.
At the age of 97 1/2 she could truly say she'd lived a long and full life. And those who knew and loved her felt the imprint and impact of her life.
