

Michael was born on January 20, 1952, in Coldwater, Michigan, to Kathryn and Carl Boyer. He earned a degree in accounting and later moved to Salem, Oregon, where he built both his career and his life.
Throughout his professional career, Michael dedicated himself to public service through his work in accounting for the State of Oregon. His years of service included work at Fairview and the Department of Human Services (DHS), where he was known for his diligence, integrity, and commitment to helping others. He remained active in his profession until his retirement.
Outside of work, Michael found joy in many pursuits. He enjoyed scuba diving, bowling, and gardening. Mike also had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for being a prankster, bringing laughter and smiles to those around him. He was a devoted fan of the Oregon Ducks football team and loved cheering them on each season. He also cherished attending concerts with his daughter, Mary, creating memories together through their shared love of music. Of all his roles in life, his favorites were being a father and a Papa. He cherished time spent with his family and especially treasured the moments shared with his granddaughter.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn and Carl Boyer, as well as his siblings.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary; his son-in-law, Josh; his beloved granddaughter, Jocelyn; and many friends and extended family members who loved him and will miss him deeply.
A memorial service celebrating Michael's life will be held on July 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service in Salem, Oregon.
Michael will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, playful spirit, dedication to his family, and the lasting impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him.
